January 12, 2012 at 10:32pm, Galloway Police responded to New York Rd (Rt 9)
and Moss Mill Rd for a reported motor vehicle accident with one of involved
vehicles on fire. The Oceanville Fire Department responded to extinguish the
vehicle fire. A
vehicle, a 2001 Mercury Sable, driven by Dominique Almeyda, age 18 of Galloway
was traveling north on New York Rd. A second vehicle, a 2007 Ford Mustang,
driven by a 17 year old female from Port Republic was traveling south on New
York Rd. The northbound (Almeyda) vehicle attempted to turn left (west) onto
Moss Mill Rd when it was struck by the southbound vehicle. The Almeyda vehicle
then burst into flames. Galloway Ambulance transported both drivers as well as
a passenger in the 17 yr old’s vehicle to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical
Center for non life threatening injuries. Both vehicles sustained major damage
and were towed from the scene. The accident was investigated by Class II
Officer Przemyslaw Ryba and Officer Daniel Weigle. Almeyda was issued a
summons by Officer Ryba for Careless Drivin
