While on patrol, Officer
Jacqueline Crocker observed a dark colored SUV driving erratically west bound
on The White Horse Pike. Officer
Crocker initiated a motor vehicle stop and made contact with the driver,
Richard Martinez, who Officer Crocker suspected of being under the influence
of an intoxicating substance. Officer
Casey and Officer Jorgensen arrived to assist and it was discovered that
Martinez
was in possession of a loaded handgun on his person.
While being placed in custody
Martinez
resisted arrest and assaulted police on scene.
It was later discovered that the handgun was reported stolen.
Martinez
was placed in custody and lodged in The Atlantic County Justice Facility on
$100,000 bail.
