On August 17, 2012 at 12:04am Galloway Police K9 Officer Hiram Melendez conducted a motor vehicle stop at a Motel on Rt 30 at 4th Ave for motor vehicle violations.  (Careless Driving and Failure to signal turn, occurred on Rt 30.)  Upon approaching the vehicle Officer Melendez smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.  Officer Carolyn Buckley and Officer Kerry Baerman responded to assist.  A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a small amount of marijuana, several pills without a prescription, $861 in cash, drug paraphernalia (packaging material,) and a loaded handgun a (45 caliber Glock.) 

A male, Edward J. Crouch, age 38 of Pleasantville was taken into custody.  Det Corporal Eric Hendrickson also responded to assist.  After an investigation, Corporal Hendrickson then prepared and executed a search warrant to Crouch’s motel room.  Inside the room police recovered 2.65 pounds of marijuana, an additional 56 glass vials individually packaged with marijuana, 3.5 ounces of cocaine, an additional 8 bags of individually packaged cocaine, a second handgun (a Rossi 38 special,) numerous prescription pills of various types, as well as ecstasy, scales and $21,400 in cash.

Crouch was charged with 5 counts of Possession of CDS, 3 counts of Distribution of CDS, Possession of a Weapon while committing CDS Offense, Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon. Two Counts each of Poss of a Weapon and Poss of a Weapon for an Unlawful purpose and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Crouch’s bail was set by JMC Elaine Frick at $250,000 cash. Crouch was transported to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.  The investigation is still ongoing at this time.
