Good News Galloway Residents! Two parking spaces in the Galloway Township Police Department parking lot have been designated as a Safe Exchange Zone.

The Safe Exchange Zone is intended to address safety concerns brought about with on‐line purchases from websites such as Craigslist, eBay, Facebook groups, etc. and to provide a safe location for families with visitation rights to make custodial exchanges.

The Safe Exchange Zone is under video surveillance 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. Vehicles can be parked in the designated parking spaces, which are clearly marked by signs and labeled with yellow paint, while you make your transactions.

Please understand that officers will not participate in transactions, act as witnesses, or offer legal advice. Additionally, we can make no guarantees, assurances, or promises as to the safety or security of any in-person transaction that may take place on township property. However, if a crime is committed, there will be video evidence that should aid in identifying the suspect and prosecuting the case. While Galloway Township Police Department will not provide personnel to witness these transactions in person, the video surveillance and proximity to police headquarters is meant to increase your peace of mind when meeting strangers to buy or sell an item.

We recommended that transactions in the Safe Exchange Zone be conducted Monday through Friday during regular business hours whenever possible. If the transaction cannot be conducted during these hours, all attempts should be made to conduct the transaction during daylight hours to provide the best video quality.

Our resident’s safety is our number one priority. Please remember to use common sense when making online purchases. If something appears too good to be true, it probably is, and if the person refuses to meet here, it may be a sign you should not do business with them.
